Delice du mali la caz a kadi: Reviews & Ratings
the food was very interesting, and she was caring about whether i would like the taste because mali food has a lot of meat and feels quite potent. the lighting creates a nice calm ambiance and there were many locals who appeared to go there often. can’t find elsewhere in paris and not like the more “accessible” African food, often also made into upscale “fusion” or modern restaurants like Le Baobab around the corner - mafé, thiep, etcetera typically senegalese. a standout in this quarter of african restaurants
A treasure in the corner of Paris! One of the few Malian restaurants around. I lived in Mali for a time, so I was thrilled to practice my Bambara with the owner! She was super kind and funny. I took my older brother there so he could try my favorite dish (a Malian original!) mafé for the first time. We loved it! We finished our meal with some African tea. Seriously y'all try the tea after your meal. It's amazing! If I ever find myself in Paris, I'm definitely coming back to this hidden gem!

Nestled in the heart of Paris’ 18th arrondissement, Delice du Mali La Caz a Kadi stands out as a rare gem for lovers of authentic West African cuisine. This cozy Malian restaurant offers a genuine taste of Mali that is hard to find elsewhere in the city, especially amid the more commonly known Senegalese or fusion African spots. The restaurant’s intimate ambiance, bathed in warm lighting, creates a calm, inviting atmosphere where locals and newcomers alike gather to savor traditional flavors.
The star of the menu is undoubtedly the Sauce Fakoye, a rich and complex sauce that bursts with the deep, earthy notes characteristic of Malian cooking. Paired with Fakoye et Riz Blanc, the dish balances textures and flavors beautifully, delivering a satisfying meal that speaks to Mali’s culinary heritage. Another standout is the Laro Bien Épicé, a spicy delight that ignites the palate without overwhelming it. These dishes highlight the skillful use of spices and ingredients indigenous to Mali, preserving their potency while ensuring accessibility to unfamiliar palates.
What resonates deeply is the care behind the cooking—a sentiment echoed by many patrons like Mélanie Shi, who appreciated the thoughtful approach to flavor and the attentive service. The atmosphere welcomes conversation and even cultural connection; for instance, a guest who lived in Mali found joy in practicing Bambara with the owner, adding an enriching cultural layer to the dining experience.
The restaurant’s other dishes, such as the famed Mafé—a hearty peanut stew often accompanied by a small pot of fiery piment—were described as “an explosion of flavor” that elevates the experience beyond simple sustenance to a celebration of West African culinary tradition. Pair it with a refreshing bissap or gingembre drink, and you have a meal that’s not only authentic but perfectly balanced.
Repeated visits by loyal customers underscore the reliable excellence of the kitchen and the warmth of the staff. Whether it’s dishes like Tilapia Attiéké or Tilapia Plantain, each plate is carefully prepared with generous seasoning and passion. The experience culminates with a calming cup of African tea, a fitting close to a meal that transports the diner straight to Mali’s vibrant streets.
For those seeking an undiscovered treasure in Paris, Delice du Mali La Caz a Kadi offers an authentic, soulful journey into Malian cuisine and culture. It’s a place where heritage meets hospitality, inviting all to explore and savor the rich tapestry of West African flavors.
